How much water should I drink a day?

It depends on the individual and there are many factors (both internal and external) that affect our need for water.

Health authorities usually recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule.

However, there are other health pundits who think we’re always on the brink of dehydration and that we need to sip on water constantly throughout the day… even when we’re not thirsty.

The best way to stay hydrated is to drink more water and drink less or stay away from coffee and sugary drinks during the day.

Drinking water before eating will also help to curb your appetite and may help you lose weight.

Do yourself a favor and drink more water if you are taking medications and are an older adult. The increased water will lead to better blood volume and help your body distribute medications, digest food and flush toxins.

Starting the day with a glass of water is a good way to start the day. After sleeping, it helps to gently get you digestive system ready for the day.

I’m going to work out. Come Back Soon!
