Urban Divers at Bronx Community College Tuesday February 28, 2012

The Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy will travel to Bronx Community College Gould Memorial Hall on Tues Feb 28, 2012 as part of its Annual Black History Month Nautical Exposition. This living history exposition takes parents, children and other visitors on a time traveling journey that offers a fresh perspective on colonial America and Afro-American Seafarers in a virtual sail from The Hudson to the Chesapeake.

The program resurrects Crispus Attucks, one of the first African-Americans to have died in the famed anti-Red Coats riots, branded as the Boston Massacre and in a “colonial tavern” one learns about Atlantic Sturgeon caught on the Muscoota and Muhicannituk (Harlem River & Hudson River). The program is a companion part of a wall exhibition on view at the National Grid Metrotech Center, 2nd floor gallery, at one Jay Street, though February 28, 2012.

The Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy is not for profit environmental and cultural organization that has served the NY community for over a decade. UDEC conceived and operates the Harlem River Ecology Center and EnviroMedia Mobile, the latter a unique mobile nature and nautical museum on wheels.

Contact the BCC Office of Collaborative Education to participate. To learn more about UDEC programs, visit or call 347-224-5828.
